On January 29, 2019, we started using Google Analytics (with IP anonymization) to better understand who visits our site and how visitors use it, so that we can improve it. It also allows us to serve visitors ads on other sites based on their visits to our site.
You may opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Alternatively, you may install a tracker-blocker plugin or disable third-party cookies in your browser and then clear existing cookies. As browsers constantly evolve, we are unable to give up-to-date information here, but a quick search for "how to disable third-party cookies" and "how to clear cookies" will provide you with simple steps to do this for your browser.
Other information we collect
Signing up for the Online Edition of the course is free and allows you to start saving your progress for Lesson 1. When you sign up, you need to provide your name, email address and a password so that you can identify yourself whenever you want to resume learning. We also need your name and email address to stay in touch with you by email. For practical reasons, we use a third party, Mailchimp, to manage and automate some of the email communications. Your data will be safely stored with them as well. You can delete your account at any time.
When you become a paying user, you have access to all course lessons. In order to keep track of your progress, we store information pertaining to the page you are on, your current settings, audio played, last visit, last IP address etc. This information allows us to restore your learning session at a later time and to troubleshoot in case of problems. This also allows us to change any settings manually, if necessary. Please let us know if you'd like us to change anything, such as your name, email address or anything else.
Please do not disable all cookies in your browser if you only want to avoid Google Analytics. If you do that, you will not be able to use the online course. Instead, follow the instructions above.
Orders through FastSpring
Except for our print books, which are sold by online booksellers such as Amazon, all purchases made through our Buy page, are handled by our trusted reseller and payment processor FastSpring. We do not collect or store any financial information such as credit card details on our website.
FastSpring will collect personal data during a purchase. FastSpring will then pass your name, email address, phone number and mailing address to us. We will not pass on this data to others. We need this data to resolve any questions or any issues with orders and course accounts.
Updating your information
If you would like to update or delete your personal information, please contact us.
You can delete your Online Course account anytime by going to the course account settings.
